I so enjoy reading your blog. I have been sober for a year and 27 days. I am a teacher. I taught for 4 years, had to resign from my last job due to the effects of alcoholism, spent the year after that discovering AA and then, myself. So today I have a job interview teaching middle school ELA/R, my favorite. I don’t know if I’m ready for this, but I’m praying God’s will be done.
Oh and when I do get hired somewhere and start earning a paycheck again, I am going to send some of it your way. 🙂 Keep on writing. You encourage me.
Hi Kris, I’m sorry it has taken me a few days to respond to your nice message. Its not that I didn’t appreciate it. In fact, it was just the opposite. I needed a few days to process it.
I’m so happy to hear that you reached your one year milestone. I went crazy immediately following my year, so if you find yourself overly emotional, its normal.
I too am a ELA/R teacher, here in Houston. My certification is in high school, but I subbed last year in middle school and really liked it. Man, those 6th graders are cute!
The reason you message gave me pause is because I have been recently contemplating shutting down my blog or maybe just taking a vacation. I’m struggling a little with the process of late. It feel like my writing feels stagnant. I don’t enjoy it anymore. And at the same time, I know there is something in just doing the process, suiting up and showing up.
Please don’t worry about the money. I really had this idea that everyone who read this blog in a month, gave two dollars, it would pay for the cost of the expenses for a year. But that has most certainly not happened. I’ve had 5 people donate, and there all the same five people who support me in my everyday life to begin with. I feel like I should give them a refund. Lol.
Hey!! I just had an idea!! Maybe you should write my blog for a few weeks! That would allow me to have a break to revitalize and meanwhile the bog would still be up and running. Whatcha think?
Anywho, I hope to hear from you again. Please let me know if you get the job. Let me know if you want to contribute to the writing of this thing. Maybe you can help someone else, as you say I have helped you.
